Yes, private prisons owned by corporations. How are you unaware of the fact that there is a private market for prisoners that requires quotas to be met.

I don’t deny this is a problem but it’s not a private market for prisons. Demand for incarceration and penitentiaries is a fundamentally public good, as it is the public sector that demands it and pays for it. It is provided for by private interests, and those private interests also profit off of the demand from the public sector. I don’t think its fair to classify it as a private market though. What sort of private consumer would willingly choose to frequent a company whose purpose is to kidnap them and throw them in a cage? The only way this kind of crap ever arises is when it’s funded for by a firm insulated from the catallaxy.

Fuckin A!  It is dumb as all hell that people overlook all the public funding, public laws, and public courts that send people to prison, and yet socialist assholes look immediately to the fact that some prisons are privately managed.  The prison industrial complex is hands down a public sector bunch of bullshit, and yet when it comes to people getting money based on these horrid laws, socialist tools start acting like they have an understanding of how incentives are dealt with in the marketplace.  Privately managed prisons end up saving the taxpayer money, that is less money being spent on PRISON then would be spent if they were all publicly ran, money that can be spent to do something crazy like support groups who are trying to end drug prohibition.  Underlining “For-Profit” like that is the catalyst that started these terrible prohibitions is taking the blame from the nanny-state and the blatant racism that are the real reasons we have a drug war feeding the worlds largest prison industrial complex, and worse still belying a complete lack of understanding about how profit could operate in a market system.  You assholes who look at this like it means something are hacking at a branch’s general direction while not understanding the root at all.
